AB Cocks

AB-Cocks are simple constructed, robust shut-off cocks which are specially designed for the measurement engineering. Due to their reliability and economic efficiency they are applied by the million.

Operating Principle

A cylindrical cock plug and an elastic packing sleeve enable a fast opening and closing over a 90° movement. This is ensured by using a stop which is rigidly attached by a circlip (valid for straight way cocks AB). Type MAB cocks for gauge meters have no integrated stop (type MABAL is excepted). The operation is carried out with a removeable handle. All KLINGER AB-Cocks are closed by turning clockwise with the exception of types ABIE and MABAL which are closed counter-clockwise.

Please note that the maximum operating temperature of each KLINGER AB-cock depends on the respective operating pressure as well as on the materials of body or sealing. The pressure and temperature limits are shown in the P-/T-diagrams which can be found in the respective product catalogue.

The Packing Sleeve – The Heart of a AB-Cock

Under pressure the lamellas of the elastic packing sleeve are pressed against the body wall and thereby an excellent seal is achieved. Three different sorts of packing sleeves are available:

• PTFE: For chemicals, aggressive media and the food industry
• KAF: For high temperature applications up to 400°C
• KOR-AF: The standard packing sleeve for operating temperatures up to 250°C
